ANDEAN ENQAN MESTANAS from AUSANGATE
Mestana cloths are an integral part of Andean culture. Handwoven during a mother-to-be’s pregnancy, they are used to receive the newborn child and afterbirth. The fabric’s natural fibers hold energetic bioresonance, fertility, creativity, and celebratory life force.
Mestanas are used as altar cloths and shawls. Andean maestros use them to hold sacred items, and make divinations, invocations, and prayer offerings. These mestanas are woven by local Peruvian families who reside at the base of Mount Ausangate at 14,500’ / 4420m.
Offered for your altar, as wall hangings, pillow covers, table pieces, etc. Proceeds support the weavers of the
Andean Indigenous Wisdom Project.
